Lixirskin, your everyday skincare needs made easy. I am always so hesitant to try out new products, as I am so faithful to my all-time favourites. However, I have to say, with Lixirskin I have been positively surprised. In addition to the glossy gorgeous packaging the Lixirskin products come in, the choice of ingredients are a perfect balance of science + nature to give you the best results for your skin. The founder behind Lixirskin, Colette Hayden, is a doctor in dermo-pharmacy. In the past, she has worked on formulating some of the best-selling skin care products, that a lot of us most likely have already used. The fact that she now branched out on her own, started this new brand in her London laboratory, and she is a woman - ticks all of Cinegirl’s boxes. Lixirskin gives a good choice of products, however I found that this following combination really worked well for me.
Morning : VITAMIN C PASTE + UNIVERSAL EMULSION
Night: ELECTROGEL CLEANSER + UNIVERSAL EMULSION
I don’t know about you, but I am super lazy in the mornings and the thought of doing any form of skincare routine, frightens me. I now stand corrected. Kick start the morning by massaging a pea-sized amount of Vitamin C Paste onto your face with damp fingers. Leave it do its magic for couple of minutes. These few minutes allow it to revitalise your dull skin, scavenge for free radicals, and provide natural sunscreen against UVA and UVB. It also regulates melanin production, helps collagen production, and protects elastin. After a few minutes of checking the weather or scrolling through the news headlines, remove with a damp cloth or I just simply use lukewarm water to splash it off. Afterwards, apply the Universal Emulsion. It can be used as a moisturiser for the daytime or during nighttime, and also as a base before applying make-up. Universal indeed. The thing I love about this product is that you can apply it on the face, eye contour, lips, neck, décolleté, arms and hands. What’s more, Lixirskin explains that they have “used an unusual emulsification technique to obtain an SPF 10 without any added sunscreens - so it is ideal as an urban day cream and primer. Never has an emulsion scored a meaningful SPF (clinically tested) without harmful added sunscreen ingredients”. When it comes to the evening, the routine is pretty straightforward. Apply the Electrogel™ Cleanser generously to your face and eye area with clean and damp hands. According to Lixirskin, “this cleanser dissolves make up and dirt, and reaches inside the pores to deep cleanse. The negatively charged Electrogel™ attracts, captures and eliminates positively charged toxins - pollution nanoparticles, heavy metals and free radicals - to give urban skin the ultimate detox.” The smell of geranium, sage, and rosemary was really nice. Could not stop sniffing it! I have been using this in the evenings and I scrutinised my eyes to check for any make-up traces etc, but it was all clean and radiant. After cleaning your face, one might think about applying masks and eye contour creams. But all you have to do is just apply the Universal Emulsion. Why wouldn’t you? The scent of rose and ylang ylang are just so nice. Voila! Your evening skincare routine is finished. Not long, not strenuous, easy-peasy! Now, if during the weekend or when you are off from work, you are like me and start to binge watch Netflix or catch up of various seasons etc, you can try out the Soft Clay Rubber mask. This mask “combines enzymatic and mechanical exfoliation to leave your skin impeccable. It is developed in the true tradition of the French facial that always includes extraction”. Très bien. Gently apply a thin layer of the mask onto your face. Leave it settle for couple of minutes, then once the product dries, it turns into a non-abrasive, mechanical exfoliant - the more you rub, the more dead cells are gone! Remove with a damp cloth or wash off with lukewarm water. Again, super easy, nothing too complicated. I checked my nose for any pores and I have to say the mask worked its magic.
