The woman in the crowd

Silver Lake Drive is a comprehensive exhibition of the mysterious and fascinating work of Alex Prager (b. 1979). Over the two floors of the Photographers Gallery dedicated to the artist it is possible to see 40 of her large-scale technicolor photographs alongside her complete film work.

The Art of Costuming  Interview with Lauren Miller. Vibrant costume designer, clothing characters from sketches to attire.

It wasn’t long ago that I re-watched Kenneth Branagh’s Cinderella with my daughter on an idle weekend, admiring Cinderella’s beautiful dream blue dress during the ball scene. How much fabric did they use? Was it made of satin? Were the butterflies real? These were all questions my daughter and I kept asking ourselves. And before I knew it, I was due to meet and interview the established and talented costume designer, Lauren Miller.

Focus Puller and Captain of Emmyland

On a sunny September morning, I am off to meet and interview Emily-Jane Robinson (a.k.a. Emmy) and be introduced to Emmyland’s world for the very first time. As I am google mapping my way to Emmyland‘s Headquarters in Brockley, I am trying to picture how this boutique camera rental place would look like. I know (as I had been stalking her on Instagram) that she has a dog called Merlin and a smaller one called Queen and she has her customary onion-style hair and a striking red lipstick. And here I am, standing in front of her and she looks exactly as I imagined her. Nice to meet you Emmy!
